We specifically included Kodiak in our tour to see important places of Orthodoxy in America, and booked a room at Goldilocks B&B for 2 nights. We are very grateful to our hostess Bronwyn for the fact that at our request she tried to find an Old Believer guide for us, but she could only find a priest who conducted a very interesting tour for us to Spruce Island, to the place of reclusion of St. Herman.
We made a mistake choosing where to live on Kodiak - our lifestyle and approach to travel did not coincide with the principles adopted at Goldilocks B&B. We flew to the island at the end of the day, and from 18:00 to 22:00 we had a tour of Kodiak. We arrived at Bronwyn's house at 10:15 pm, which she thought was too late. The next day, we said that we needed breakfast at 7 am, because at 7:30 a taxi would come for us to the airport. Breakfast was included in the price. We got a complete rejection because Bronwyn cooks breakfast strictly from 7:30 to 9:00. We would have been quite satisfied with a couple of ready-made sandwiches and tea, but this turned out to be impossible. We left with a 59 hour drive to our house ahead of us, including 4 flights and connections. As for the accommodation itself, we could not expect that for almost $ 300 per night there would be a tiny room with amenities in the corridor! When booking, we noticed that it says "shared bathroom", but at this price, we were sure that booking.com was in error. That is, in the morning, going to the toilet, I had to fully dress, go out into the corridor and find there that the bathroom was busy, because the neighbor was taking a shower! Another point did not bother us at all, but, probably, someone will not be satisfied with the absence of a TV not only in the rooms, but also in the common hall. The road to the city center, back, and from the airport and to the airport cost us an additional $ 90 (and this despite the fact that the Best Western hotel, located in the center, having all the amenities and the price is much lower, organizes a free shuttle to the airport) . The location of Goldilocks B&B is beautiful for those who want to relax in silence on the shore of a cliff overlooking the bay. For us, it turned out to be a mistake on all sides.
