This luxurious cottage is beautifully located in the Sune Ridge Nature Park, home to a variety of wildlife, 20 km from the small town of Hluhluwe.
The hotel is conveniently located within Isimangiliso Wetland Park, formerly called the Greater Wetland Park of Saint Lucia. The surrounding area is full of attractions and sports facilities. The cottage is easily accessible as it is conveniently located by a paved road. Sodwana Bay Marine Park offers scuba diving and snorkelling, a 55-minute drive away. The Big Five Nature Reserves are a 30-minute drive from the lodge at Hlulhuwe Umfolozi Park.
However, stunning scenery and animals can be seen from the lodge; there is a beautiful observation deck where you can also enjoy the sunrise and moonrise, the perfect place to experience the true atmosphere of South Africa.
We didn't stay at this hotel as we couldn't handle so many insects. We booked and paid for 3 nights here (due to no response to emails from the property, the request for a partial refund has also not yet been answered). From the car/reception to the bungalow is about 5 minutes walk through the dense forest on a sandy path. WiFi is only available in the dining area/reception. No wifi in bungalow. The accommodation is located in the middle of a forest with an appropriate number of animals. Unfortunately, this is not visible in the description of the accommodation on Booking.com, nor in the photos. For people who are looking for absolute nature, this accommodation is definitely exceptional. However, if you do not want to share a room with spiders, geckos and other insects and animals, this placement is absolutely not suitable.
In general, everything was good, but, unfortunately, nothing more. Beautifully nestled in the bushes. Very calm. The jacuzzi outside worked very well (after we cleaned it) and we were visited by wildebeest. The food was ok too.
Everything is getting old. Expected much more for the price. The bathroom is very worn and the cleanliness is only mediocre. There are a lot of bugs in the room, although we tried not to leave anything open. A hot tub cover would be nice. It was raining before we arrived so we first had to remove all sorts of leaves etc and again make the jacuzzi look presentable enough. Value for money really isn't great, for the price of one night at the Leopard Walk Lodge we sometimes spent 2 nights in much better South African accommodation.
Great location. Zebras, impalas, wildebeest are amazing experiences. We stayed in a beautiful lodge with an outdoor jacuzzi. Friendly staff and delicious food. We will definitely return if we go to the reserve. Thanks for the good service!
