Delicious breakfast buffet and great covered terrace overlooking the garden, pool and sea. staff very friendly. Nice lobby. Otherwise the restaurant was very good.
The gym is only rudimentary. Laundry service prices are very high. We looked for a laundry service in the village who washed a load for 500 rupees. The pool had a slippery bottom, otherwise it was nice for a swim. There is only one baby high chair in the restaurant.

We always feel very comfortable at Gateway Varkala. The house is beautiful, rooms were renovated during Corona, very nice and courteous staff, excellent food. The pool is big. After a massage the back pain was gone. A visit to the spa is worthwhile. In 5 minutes you are at the beach. People are friendly and not pushy when selling.
The hotel has a good location and the staff is friendly.
The service does not match the cost. Half board is not worth it, the menu is usually quite limited and it is difficult to order something outside of it. The facilities are quite neglected and some things do not work (fan, refrigerator in the room, shower) Additionally, requesting a car from the hotel costs 3 times more than taking it outside.
