far from boredom :-)
A hotel for fans of high mountains, trips to even higher mountain regions. Maintained in the old mountain style. A nice restaurant serving dinners and nice, helpful staff - they saved my credit card, which fell under the wooden terrace on a rocky toilet - it wasn't easy, but it worked and not everyone would like to try - for which I am really grateful, because it saved us a lot of trouble :-) Surrounded by silence, mountain peaks and unique nature. I would like to visit this place in winter sometime.
with the internet it can be different, especially in the rooms. Cold eggs for breakfast - it's better to let it go.

memories of a lifetime
It was a hotel where the Matterhorn could be seen closest, and it was a lifetime memory blessed with fine weather. I was able to see it lit up by the morning sun while having a cup of coffee. It was the best.
The food was a little salty, but it may be a countermeasure against altitude sickness.

I will definitely return here!
Had a wonderful stay! Very friendly and helpful staff! The room had a view right on the Matterhorn, which was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes. Good breakfast, very good cleaning, good dinner - all in all 10/10!
The stay was too short (two nights) otherwise everything was great!

Simple mountain hotel in a fantastic location
great location, especially in the evening after the cable car closes, complete peace!! Great view of the Matterhorn. An excellent starting point for many hikes. Free cleaner fish included in Schwarzsee.
The hotel advertises a terrace in the room but does not offer furniture. It is also a common terrace for several rooms. little storage space in the room, very basic and outdated equipment. Breakfast is so-so.

Overall perfect
perfect location, we could see the Matterhorn from the room. Just stunningly beautiful. Very tasty food and friendly staff.

No breakfast because the tour started early. There is also no interest from the staff to offer a solution here. Very rude staff.

Really lousy hotel, avoid and stay in the village is my suggestion
The breakfast was ok but definitely not more, the coffee undrinkable, the dinner is clearly the worst meals I have had in the last 10 years, the staff were incredibly unengaged. We could not pay for the hotel room at 07.40 because we were in a hurry to catch the flight and the staff was sitting at the reception but were allowed to wait until 08.00.

You should go for the view, not the hotel experience.
An exceptional location at the foot of the Matterhorn that you can see from your bed.
The staff is not very friendly, there are no smiles, you have to run after them to buy a drink.

Sorry for the disappointing experience with this hotel.
The location is fantastic.
The staff doesn't have enough time to be friendly. The room (lower) didn't match the photos on booking.com but turned out to be a small room in the basement but with only a few basement windows (the mention of "mountain view" is laughable). The room was next to the chauffeur and ski room (noise), was too small for 6 people and only had 1 closet. The room was also very dirty and lacked pillows. For 1 person, we shortened the stay (during the cancellation period) by 1 night, but we were not refunded. We contacted both booking.com and the hotel but they blame each other for the mistake. We are no longer receiving replies, but we still have credit.

La sopa de verduras es deliciosa. Volvere sin dudas. Many thanks for what you are doing. The best thing is the location. We also got a room with a Matterhorn view. Everything is very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and plentiful. Vegetable soup is the best in Switzerland. No doubt I will be back. Thank you very much for everything.
Lo único Que se puede decir es que el baño es compartido pero en comparación a todo lo bueno que ofrecen no es un Problema. The only thing to say is that the bathroom is shared but compared to all the good things they offer this is not a problem.

The best choice for winter sports lovers who come here only for skiing.
The location is really unique, right on the slopes with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn.
The rooms are a bit small and the beds are not very comfortable.

alpine, impressive, simple but cordial
Very beautiful, unusual and alpine housing. The food is very good and rich, nice staff. Incredible view.
Little things: the instant coffee at the breakfast buffet could be improved, also if there were more fresh juices in the evening (vegetables or more often fresh salad). But given the high-altitude location, it is also understandable if there are restrictions.

Unforgettable holiday - again with pleasure
The hotel's superb location is second to none - sensational views and once the trains stop, a wonderful world to relax and unwind. What more could you ask for than 2583 meters above sea level, sunshine and a front row seat with a direct view of the Matterhorn - you can't imagine better. Thanks to all the mountain railways, you can get anywhere in the region very quickly and easily. Super friendly staff at the hotel. My room had a great view of the Gornergrat and a direct view of the Matterhorn across the terrace and was very clean. With pleasure again.
There's always something you won't find that good, but you really have to look here and if you ever find one, it's really nagging at a very high level. As for - everyone has their own opinion, but for this one had to be there - and there was nothing to complain about that was worth mentioning.

Get to know the mountains up close
In general, a unique experience - the mountains are nearby, the Matterhorn is right in front of the window, a unique atmosphere in the morning and evening. The equipment is simple, but everything is in good condition, a cozy restaurant. Breakfast with little choice but good quality (coffee only from self-service machine). But everyone was very friendly, we felt very comfortable! The special location makes the stay unique, so small compromises in comfort are absolutely justified.

We were very satisfied and comfortable.
The breakfast is very good, lots of choice. The location was beautiful with a view of the Matterhorn! Very suitable as accommodation for a multi-day hike around the Matterhorn.

Very good!
The hotel is very stylish and tastefully furnished. All is clear. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The service is perfect.
The bathrooms are not up to hotel standards and are in dire need of refurbishment. You should be aware that the hotel is right on a noisy street. There is only one vegetarian main course on the menu.

Good stay at the top.
the view is extraordinary. Ideal to see the sunrise on the Matterhorn breakfast buffet upstairs. Very good dinner with efficient service.

Pure feeling of the mountain!
The place is definitely unique. The view around the three-thousanders and four-thousanders is simply sensational! The accommodation has a somewhat impromptu mountain hut charm, and yet it is a true hotel. My room was surprisingly spacious with basic amenities, a bathroom and access to a fantastic terrace! In the evening you are well cooked, home cooking with an Italian touch. More than good. Really great value for money considering where you are! Of course there is an extra charge for the gondola, but the hike from Zermatt is feasible and fantastic, but not without fitness... The service is ok, but if there is a problem, Monique is very helpful and finds solutions, even if there are difficulties! Thanks for a great vacation. I wish I could stay longer...
As a lowlander, one cannot underestimate the difficulty of the altitude (almost 2600 meters). While the gondolas are running, it gets very crowded in good weather! But in the evenings and mornings, an incredible calm ...

Beautiful surroundings, great ski area, friendly staff, dilapidated infrastructure.
The staff were very friendly. The location is fantastic. The breakfast was good.
The hotel is a little run down. The room was about 12 m2 for 4 people. The heating could not be turned off. We had to sleep with the window open and heat the window. There was no closet in the room as there was no space.

In the first lodges of the Matterhorn
The view of the Matterhorn is absolutely magical. Sunrise in the morning is an indescribable sight in the silence before the opening of the slopes. The hotel is on the slopes, ideal for skiing most of the day. The staff is attentive. Many thanks to the chef for preparing dishes suitable for my diet.
The 1st board does not include drinks! Even a glass of water or herbal tea has to be paid in addition to half board. The hotel is quite noisy during the day because the ski boots of skiers going down to the toilets echo on all floors.

Recommended!!!
The staff are all kind and the hot water comes out well! In particular, right in front of the accommodation is the Matterhorn, so the view is amazing. You can see Zermatt at a glance from the back. If the weather is clear at night, be sure to go out. I was sad to see the stars because the full moon overlapped, but it was really good. It was ecstasy itself.

Into the storm
Stuck for two days due to a storm, we enjoyed the adventure as a family. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Sangria offered to cheer us up! Hearty Swiss or Italian dishes. Nice atmosphere with all customers and people at the service!

Smiling, attentive staff. Breathtaking view of the Matterhorn.
Dining room food, restaurant tap water price in the evening, friendly boss like a prison door, no living room or seating area, rudimentary bedrooms, no outlets (2) in the bedroom.

The location was great! The feeling of spending the night in the mountains is unique. Dinner was ok. The breakfast was good. The staff is very friendly

I really wanted to see the Matterhorn and from the hotel it was great. Therefore, it's good.

That there is not even a gondola discount of 40 CHF per person as we did not ski, they are added to the price of the hotel. A solution had to be found.

It was wonderful.
Great location! ! ! The silence after the gondola is over, it feels like you are embraced by nature, and it is so wonderful that words cannot express it well. The sky is full of stars at night, and the world of marmots and sheep in the early morning. I am looking forward to the renovation.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the cancellation policy has passed just one day, so I tried to cancel 14 days before and 13 days before and change the schedule. I and the staff of Booking.com requested many times to reduce the cancellation fee (full amount) or to change the date of stay 3 days before, but there was no answer. To the end, it was absolutely necessary to pay the full amount of accommodation for one night. I was sent to a reservation center, and the person in charge of Booking.com negotiated. Reservation centers and hotel front desks were quite difficult to get through on the phone, and completely ignored requests by e-mail, resulting in zero answers. In the end, I left only my luggage on the day of climbing the Matterhorn and did not cancel. If I could have negotiated directly with the lady at the front desk, I would have considered it, but in the end, I left my luggage for a day, so I paid the full amount. Our hotel room rate is relatively cheap, but if you go past the policy for even one minute, no consideration was given in any circumstances. Anyway, the correspondence of the reservation center is the worst word. At the very least, if you could contact me and respond, I wouldn't have to spend the time and money of contacting you over and over again for days. Book carefully. Also, the road between the hotel and the gondola lift was rough, and there was no assistance for transporting luggage from the hotel, so it was difficult. My luggage was damaged by stones on the rough road.

The location is amazing!
This is a mountain hideaway, you need a cable car to get there and the last one goes up at 4pm (depends on the time of year). Bathrooms are shared.

Heaven with a close view of the Matterhorn! ︎
The Matterhorn is right in front of you, the taste of beer while watching the glacier in the silence after the ropeway has finished is exceptional! ︎ The room is large and comfortable. It heals the fatigue of going back and forth to Hernlihütte.

Fabulous vacation !!!
Breathtaking views from this hotel at the foot of the Matterhorn! Excellent half board and breakfast serviced by very friendly staff.
The room we got was perfect for us but the ceiling is very low for tall people.

Away from the hustle and bustle, something completely different. I've never been to the Hörnlihütte so quickly. Everything I needed was there.
No luck with the food... Didn't like dinner.

The view of the Matterhorn is unbeatable
A view of the Matterhorn. I tried to make a reservation at "3100 Kulmhotel" or "Riffelhaus 1853", but there were no vacancies on the date I wanted, so I chose this hotel. Compared to the above hotels, I was worried that the Matterhorn would not look beautiful because it was too close. Compared to the above hotel, it is smaller, so it was just right to relax and enjoy the view. The room I stayed in was "No.5" and this room is the best. Please request this room. You can see the huge Matterhorn from the front window and Monte Rosa from the side window. If you stick your head out of the window, you can see the town of Zermatt in the distance. I was able to spend a blissful time watching the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa at the same time while sitting on a chair in the room.
Because we were blessed with weather and could see Matterhorn neatly, we gave perfect score evaluation, but normal hotel with poor facilities if Matterhorn cannot be seen.
