Good!!
The treatment of the staff of 10. We asked them for some sandwiches to take away and although they don't usually do it, they made them with great kindness. The garden that surrounds the hotel exudes tranquility. The pool is beautiful, although due to the time of year we could not enjoy it. The restaurant with a Michelin star, the food and the service deserve it.
The mattress was very uncomfortable. The room needs a little maintenance, it was in the old part of the hotel. The bathroom was correct, although it lacks hangers. The worst and most annoying thing is that when those in the room above used the bathroom, the shower or the bathtub (in our case they did it at dawn too) the noise from the drains was considerable and very annoying. The breakfast is fair for a 5*.

The staff is super attentive and very friendly. The dimensions of the rooms are very spacious. The different types of vegetation in the outside garden is impressive. That you can have the spa in a particular way. The 1* Michelin restaurant is worth experiencing!
Certain facilities need a little more maintenance and the garden of the room that we had was a bit neglected. The 1h relaxing body massage is too superficial and soft (for our taste). By default they speak Catalan and for those of us who do not understand the language it is somewhat uncomfortable, especially when it is important to understand what they are explaining to you. They have no problem that they explain it to you again in Spanish, but you have to say it now, a little lazy. Too expensive for the quality it has (which is very good, but not for those prices)

Nice staff and beautiful hotel grounds. Please note that the superior rooms listed with garden view do not face the park, but the terrace at the back of the room with the wall and the village behind. The restaurant is good but the vegetarian menu is not up to the mark.
The hot tub was throwing off black particles and hair from other customers, breakfast in the room in a damp and dark basement is not up to par, bread and pastries are bland and industrial (while the restaurant is stellar), no choice, no variety, no service. The pool was not cleaned. This hotel, despite the friendliness of the staff, is not at all 5 star.

Nice relaxing atmosphere
The location (mountains, citrus trees, Ebro river area) and atmosphere (great gardens!) are lovely. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped, the reception is very friendly. An ideal place to relax for 1-2 days.
The staff could be more attentive, for example, we were not replenished with toilet paper. And at breakfast they don't ask if you want an egg, or you don't get any information about what egg dishes are. You must ask for everything. Experienced the best service while traveling and expected this from a 5 star hotel.

Very nice house great effort to understand us in french on arrival we are offered a glass of cava the staff took our luggage to our room pool towels are provided regarding the restaurant which is normally closed on monday stays open for hotel guests the menu is limited but wine is unlimited breakfast served in the garden and very plentiful and varied very good value for a spanish 5 star hotel

Relaxation and gastronomy in a fabulous garden...
Garden is the best! We were upgraded to the Royal Suite and found the room to be excellent, very comfortable and well oriented towards the gardens. Fantastic breakfast and very plentiful. We also made a Tribute menu at the restaurant which exceeded our expectations. The chef came out to greet us, and the head of the premises showed us the cellar, the well and the roots of a hundred-year-old ficus. Pool exclusively for us for 2 days :-)
Possibly more productive and frequent service during the day at the pool. Would be handy to have a list of restaurant options in Zerta or nearby towns for days/nights when you don't offer catering (we stayed Sunday to Tuesday)

Although I have no complaints... if I wanted changes in the future... the bathrooms for the larger sizes were not as comfortable, there were no fixtures, completely open and almost integrated into the room (including the toilet). the spa has everything you need but lacks atmosphere, music, scenery, very wasted.

The location is great for the name of the hotel "Villa Retiro", a perfect, very quiet place, who wants to be in the center of the world, forget it, here to rest and relax, you also have activities in nearby cities. Complimentary breakfast buffet, don't miss anything, from fruits to pastries, from water to natural juice, juice from a bottle (this is a quality brand, not a tetrabric, just skip the soy milk, which I guess if they ask you they take out also a toaster for bread but there were bits of fresh bread but to the point.The truth is that all the breakfasts are of a very good standard.We will definitely repeat
When you arrive you will only see the parking lot and the sign of the hotel and another one for baby cars and handicapped cars, when we are taking a child we follow the signs for baby cars which come to a dead end and the signs are over so we turn around and stop, nowhere indicates the reception with which something is lost, they may have to change the hotel sign to RECEPTION, there are stairs to get to the reception, and for a baby stroller and suitcases a bit inconvenient after going around to find out where the reception was, for those who know it no problem, as for us next time, but the first time is trouble

Vacation in paradise
The first thing you notice upon arrival is the well-kept garden. then you go to the pool at the hotel entrance. The staff are very nice. The room is well tempered. the kitchen is decorated with stars and the sommelier knows his stuff. But what is especially striking is the well-kept exterior of the hotel and the picturesque garden. The hotel is not cheap but well worth the money for the facilities. the parking situation is generous. At night, the car is in a closed area.

....The staff was very friendly and they changed our room. (Don Manuel) In this, without leaks and humidity, we enjoyed our stay. Spacious, beautiful bathroom with bathtub, shower, marble sink...very comfortable bed and very pleasant surroundings on site. Generous breakfast under a huge tree and a proper pool.
The first room (Royal Suite) was spacious and beautiful, but it had serious dampness and even noticeable leaks. Which caused a cold and humid environment. The ceiling in the bathroom was terrible because of the humidity. But.....

For a 5 star hotel, they didn't have any toothpaste or brush (had to be asked at the front desk), there was only one pair of slippers and it was a double.

Very nice trip and enjoyment of the hotel, Xertes area and surroundings.
Very good breakfast and served daily in the room to avoid hotel contacts. The whole hotel and room were old fashioned as the hotel is located on a farm and in a building with such characteristics, very nice and charming.
The restaurant, despite the Michelin star, has only prepared a few tasting menus, but those of us who have stayed at the hotel would have liked to have more variety every day.

Michelin-starred dinner with matching wines. The wines did not go well with the dishes; too heavy a gift. The dishes had to be typically Spanish; we (experts) could not appreciate. Moreover, we have indicated that we do not eat pork; we got. Specially run for this restaurant; very disappointed. The hotel was great.

Very good value for money food (regional menu) on the terrace overlooking the plain and excellent breakfast in the large room (terrace too open in summer). Large selection and quality products. Attentive waiters. Intelligent application of sanitary protocol (small glass serving, personalized bamboo tweezers). A very interesting visit to the neighboring castle. The pool is good.

An unforgettable experience
Everything, the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and very nice, the facilities are very clean, the breakfast is very good and the dinner at the Michelin star restaurant is incredible. The staff are attentive and very pleasant. All in all an unforgettable experience.
The only thing that disappointed us was the spa. The wet sauna was not hot enough and the jacuzzi water was cold.

The place is spectacular, everything is very neat, benevolence to the smallest detail. The hotel is beautiful and very quiet. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant where we enjoyed an incredible tasting menu with service at the level of a Michelin starred restaurant.

I didn't like the breakfast because, among other things, the quality of the sausage was poor. The ham, although Iberian, was poorly sliced (too thick) and tasted stale. It not only smelled bad, but it was also too dark in color, it was a little rusty. It felt like it was not being stored properly. In the case of the sausage, there was a strange smell too, and the chorizo and fuet seemed to me of poor quality, as did the bacon, which was too undercooked to be cooked rather than fried or fried. Finally, I found the cheeses to be salty and dry, with the exception of brie. I think the only good things about the breakfast were the fresh orange juice and the croissant, it was how fresh they tasted. The omelet is good too. Hopefully this comment will help you to improve this service as it is not on par with a 5-star hotel, and even more so considering the superiority of lunch and dinner in the restaurant.

Too expensive for what they offer
There is an exotic garden where you can take a beautiful walk.
You have the idea that you are going to sleep in the Villa Retiro, in the palace, but it turns out that the suites are in a completely modern annex building. This breaks the charm of the original main building a little. The quality of "Amen ITIS", especially body milk, leaves much to be desired. They will have to think about changing the brand.

In the bathroom of our room, the toilet didn't flush properly and the shower got clogged. It wasn't super clean and I think it needs 1 star. At the hotel we were told the restaurant's menu for 39 euros and the restaurant did not offer it to us nor were we able to do it, and yes it is there!!! Very cold pool.

Since it is 5 stars, I think that there is not enough gym here, and the breakfasts are not up to par, the bread is not just toasted, but it turns out to be soft, just like we had cold cuts and sweaty cheeses. Fran Lopez's restaurant is better than the hotel. The pool and surroundings are very good.
We arrived on a Monday and the surroundings of the hotel and the restaurant (which didn't open that night) were a little run down. the next day it was right the decor of our room and bathroom is too classic for our taste (but it's very personal)

The room was spectacular, we were given the Royal Suite and it took you back to a great time. Well-preserved, comfortable bed, huge room, tidy to the smallest detail, including water and coffee/infusions, and a fully equipped bathroom with shower and, above all, a spectacular roll-top bathtub. Plus, they have the bonus of a Michelin starred restaurant run by Chef Fran Lopez, highly recommended.
The pillows are very improved.

5 star hotel in quotes
The room is very nice, the garden suites are modern and the cava and chocolate welcome detail was very nice in addition to the detail of the bottle of wine upon check out.
The pool was run down and the water was dirty. The breakfast was quite filling, but the pastries were too browned, as if they had been left in the oven.

The decor is impressive, the room is huge, the breakfast is also impressive. The pool is in very good condition and with many hammocks. And the hotel restaurant (with a Michelin star) is worth a visit at least once.
The truth is that everything was very good, but a few things needed to be improved: when night came it was filled with mosquitoes and you couldn't enjoy the outdoor tables. At the front desk they didn't have much information about running routes.

The environment (pool, garden, the main building of the hotel...) and the attitude of the staff, cordial and friendly. The quality of the restaurant should also be noted: cuisine (at the level of a Michelin star!) And excellent service.
The breakfast is not very varied (no wholemeal bread, decaffeinated coffee from the machine, homemade cakes, etc.) Of the hot dishes, only scrambled eggs and bacon. Although the products are good, I think they are not on the same level as the environment and other services. It would also be nice to take advantage of the green areas around the pool to offer a bar and cocktail service at night.
