Merida Medea, owned by Meliá, is located on Avenida de Portugal in a new residential area, close to shopping and entertainment centers with cinemas, restaurants and many traditional bars and pubs. The location also means that the hotel has excellent access to the region's main road network, ideal if you are visiting the area on business or exploring the region on holiday. Via de la Plata (or Silver Road) is an old trade route that crosses the west of Spain from north to south and connects Merida with Astorga.
The hotel's striking semicircular architecture deliberately echoes the ancient Roman theaters, creating an impressive and luxurious atmosphere.

Very good for a cultural getaway of 1 or 2 nights
It is worth noting that it is one of the few accommodations that offers family rooms: with 3 beds (a bed is much more comfortable than a sofa bed), and with 2 beds + bunk beds (for 2 adults and 2 children). Quiet area, although it is outside the central case, it is 4 blocks in a straight line from the Roman bridge (you can walk) and once there visit all the monuments. Varied breakfast and continually replenished.

I expected the hotel to be different from the booking photos.
The room was nice and comfortable and had a balcony.
The room where we stayed only had a view of cars, empty restaurants and little else.

Correct hotel and far from the center that needs a change of furniture.
The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. On the TV there were several free Movistar movie channels. There is plenty of free street parking.
You can tell that the furniture is old, with paint chips and many years. It would need a reform. It is very far from the center, it is necessary to take the car.
