Keep in mind that the hotel is very long perpendicular to the beach, so only a few rooms, in the adults-only sector, are close to the sea. The rest are far away, for some you have to walk 20 minutes or wait for the bus. If you want a sea view, there are only a few in the adult sector. Ask from the second floor. Those on the ground floor have access to the garden and there are some plants that cover the sea. An elevator in our sector was not working.

The place is beautiful, you can walk and explore many times that it doesn't tire. If you want to leave the facilities, the area is safe. The buffet breakfast is excellent and can be taken in any of the restaurants. Lunch the same. Dinner can be at the central buffet or a la carte with reservation, I recommend the first option. Fabulous cupcakes/smoothies/coffee and tortillas/burritos. The room service is really available 24 hours and it was always very good. The staff in general (except for the front desk) is quite sparing. With some exceptions, they don't treat you badly. But, with a few other exceptions, they don't try too hard. The cleaning service is very efficient, it never failed us. The Wi-Fi, once connected, has a range, is stable and performs well. The beach is nice. There was some sargassum and waves making the water choppy. It is not the typical Caribbean beach that one expects. The pools could be a bit bigger but that's not a problem either. The poolside bar makes good drinks.
We arrived at 2pm on a day when occupancy was far from full and the front desk was quiet. They did not allow us to enter the room until 3:30 p.m. It was difficult to activate the wifi. I stayed with my family at the Sandos Playacar from October 12 to 19, 2021, my room was 8137 in the family area. I will try to give you the general comments: - Room: very comfortable and cute, not modern but they have everything, they welcome you with a fruit tray, a bottle of mezcal, wine and champagne. The super comfortable and large bathroom has a very comfortable jacuzzi tub. The negative, they don't clean it well when you're there, on the 3rd day they no longer gave us duvets but a blanket, which I thought was very bad. - A la carte restaurants: the food is excellent, but the service is really slow, it's worth waiting for, many times they left us without drinks, it's something they can improve. - Food in buffet restaurant: excellent, lots of variety, except for the snack bar. Since you always had to wait for pizza, meat and potatoes for the little ones, the meat ran out, it is a personal lack since many people eat there to enjoy the pools and beach. - Bars: the liquors are not known, they are generic. Second time we visited this hotel, the first time we loved everything, today given the circumstances (covid) the best is the food in the restaurants, the attention of its staff and the cleanliness of the beach.
We reserved a room with a double bed, the bathroom was covered so they had to change our room to one with two beds, they did not have rooms available. We traveled to celebrate our marriage anniversary and we had to spend 9 nights in separate beds. It didn't look good to me.

Internal transport takes a long time to pass and is often full, that's too bad, we almost always had to walk, with children and an elderly person. Very poor food in the Piemonte restaurant. Too much noise due to poor acoustics in the Asiatico restaurant. The difference in cleanliness and setting of plants between the family area (basic and with dirt accumulated between the plants) with the areas closest to the beach (very well-kept and clean) is very noticeable.
The highlight was the breakfast by the sea. Although the offer wasn't that big, the location made up for it.
