Nice hostel for short stays
The staff was friendly. The four-dormitorio is ok. The beds are comfortable, there is a light, fan, sockets and a bathroom with a shower. Maybe a bit tight, but still ok. Outside there is a seating area and even a kitchen with fridge etc. Around the corner upstairs there is a small room for breakfast or to enjoy the bar's wine in the evening. =D Outside there is also a very pretty pool with loungers, perfect for relaxing. Pretty facility overall. There is also a supermarket and other restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
I think the room rate is a bit too expensive. The location isn't the best, but at least there are buses to get to the West End or Coxen Hole.

probably the best value for money on Roatan for backpackers
The facilities with a pool, sun loungers and an integrated restaurant are more reminiscent of a small hotel resort than a hostel. Nevertheless, you only pay the backpacker price in the dorm, but you can of course use the other things. There is also a well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. The large supermarket, which can be reached in 3 minutes on foot, is very practical. The staff is very friendly, owner Mel is a warm hostess.
The hostel is located in Sandy Bay. To reach the busier places like West Bay or West End must You can either rent a scooter or take a shared taxi on the street, which is absolutely no problem and is also cheap.

Beautiful place with great potential

The contract had a room with a fan, but there was no fan, only a ceiling fan that did not give air, only rotated very slowly, very dark, there were mosquitoes, a nice garden, but no maintenance was visible.

Something more local on the island
The room and facilities were as expected. The staff were friendly and we met Mel the owner of the restaurant who offered to drive us into town to meet him and was very nice. The views of the place from his point of view at the top were very beautiful and meeting other travelers was also a pleasure. Good quality-price.
Although the receptionists were friendly and answered any questions we might have, they might have seemed a little too serious at first. The room was very hot but at least there was a fan. The mosquito net on the door did not work well. On the other hand, you have to keep in mind that the location will not be the same as the West End, West Bay or other very touristic areas of the island, there is a much more local vibe and may seem intimidating at first. Obviously you have to be careful and keep your eyes open, but nothing happens. There is little entertainment around, Sandy Bay beach is not for swimming and there is nothing special to watch in the vicinity (unless they want to get into the colony). I recommend this accommodation if they have a way to get around the island it is true there are buses and taxis but with prices $1 to the west end and if you want to go to the west bay 1 to the west end and from there 5 on a moto taxi There and back costs 12 dollars per day. In the end, it's not worth it. Better to have your own transport. The accomodation is ok, as I said, acceptable quality-price, however, in the West End you can find something similar in price and the location is definitely better.

Paradise full of uncertainty with affairs
It was a wonderful place, the staff cleaned really well if they really didn't because they didn't come to clean the room every day and it was shared between 4 guests who are great people by the way, the immaculate pool is a bit off the chlorine, but immaculate I feel motorbike rental prices are quite high, food is great, location is not the best, but there is a lot of tranquility in sandy bay, taxi service is very good, but like everywhere there are people who have no remorse. and charge per arm and leg, for example from port terminal to hostel, taxi can charge you 500 lempira when its real cost is 150, and if it is collective 100 lempira for that reason and safety, I recommend collective service
Cleaning, when there are 4 people in the room, better cleaning is needed and there is NO place to change dollars for lempiras, so the change is very low, I recommend taking lempiras, street food is quite expensive and not the best

Great stay and perfect place to enjoy daytime activities!!
Perfect vacation!! Mel is a gem, she helped us a lot with every question we had about activities, taxis, laundry or whatever. The apartment is private and very well located!
Just the fact that there is no fully closed door. Lots of mosquitoes at night.

Do not miss.
First, it's very quiet. The hotel is located in nature and therefore a little away from the tourist streams. Within walking distance of a supermarket, a small restaurant on site, a small pool, near the beach. Mel, our host is very nice and friendly, as are all the staff. The room has hot water and good wifi and the possibility to rent a scooter on the spot. Great place 😀

Rather disappointing but good value for money
The willingness of the receptionist to help order a taxi, the cleanliness of the room, drinking water available at the reception at a reduced price (10 lempira per litre), the importance attached to the environment (selective sorting, etc.).
Location, wifi only works at the reception (at least during my stay), dilapidated hostel. Decent value for money no matter what for Roatan Island

Inadequate
Room was very small but ok for one night for the price.
The payment process (deposit via Paypal with a fee) is complete nonsense. The place is somewhere in the middle of nowhere. When you arrive the staff does not make you feel welcome. The lock on the gate is not possible. The whole facility would do a little love very well.

Quiet and very beautiful place. I loved his dog Kia and his other dog. 😊 The room was small but comfortable and clean.
My guess is that from the work schedule, the support girl was not there for a few moments and she needed something to advise.

Very pleasant and helpful staff
The photos on the website look great but it is a very basic room with no TV, nothing but a bed and this is not explained in the advert. no air conditioning The bathroom is outside the room, the water was not used, there is nowhere to throw papers, there is no hot water. there is a padlock at the entrance which cannot be opened without light and is full of mosquitoes it has no windows so you are part of the space outside, the dogs were barking until 2am. it is really very basic accommodation, clean bed but you should mention it in your advertisement.

Close to the sandy beach of the bay Generally friendly staff Comfortable double room with pool view and pleasant 6-bed room. Fairly good on-site restaurant Shared kitchen Pleasant pool Nice garden On the colectivos trail that takes you to the west end and coke hole 20 cordobas. Nearby there is a supermarket. Offering activities such as cooking lessons.
The only small smoking area is in front of the kitchen ... either you get in the way of the people eating, or you have to integrate into the sometimes big party that throws parties. Sometimes it gets a little noisy when people gather by the pool in the late hours. Partitions separating very thin rooms, ours opened onto the common living room of other rooms.

Exceptional
Mel helped me a lot in planning my trip, especially arranging a transfer from the airport to the hostel in just 24 hours. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the kitchen is small but clean and functional. The place is very well organized, my room was clean and quiet. At first glance, a bit far from the beach, but very easy taxi ride to the West End, 5 minutes, less than $ 2. I highly recommend Roatán Backpackers Hostel to anyone traveling to Honduras looking for affordable accommodations.
