Very good for the price. No frills
It is well located and with everything you need. miss the air conditioning. There are no mosquito nets, so you can't open the window either.

The accommodation is close to the center and easily accessible. The room was big.
There was no shower curtain in the bathroom, so everything got wet right away. The staff is not very friendly, you don't feel welcome. We had to pay for the night by bank transfer in advance otherwise they would cancel the booking again, I've never experienced this before.

Good but could be better
Location and space in the room and outside.
Due to the heat we had to open the windows, but there were no obstacles in front of it, so there were a lot of mosquitoes in the room.

I loved

big room with good wifi
fan in the rooms which is very noisy and not very cooling. Very basic bathroom and no hot water. But, ultimately, this last point is not a problem, because cold showers in this country are really good. what I didn't like was the fact that the price is higher than the booking for the following nights when the booking takes a percentage.

Inexpensive and ok for one night
very cheap for an overnight stay. WiFi is stable. Early check-in was possible.
The bed is too small, there are no towels, the staff pays little attention even at check-in

The perfect place to enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere of Puerto Viejo.
The location is perfect, the staff is very nice, the room is very clean and spacious. Towels are changed daily. In addition, you have the option to store the car inside.

Very nice place!
The cabin was very comfortable and I felt so good that I didn't want to leave ;) Bed of 10, clean and comfortable and they have a shared kitchen! I was luxurious.

Location is ok, wifi and condition is very poor
Good place.
I wanted to stay 2 nights instead of 3, I contacted the hotel and they sent me an extra bill for 16 euros for 1 night less… They blame the booking even though it's their own hostel. in short: paid for 3 nights and only stayed 2 nights, while the property managed to sell the last night. WiFi is really very bad.

Functionally!
I liked that the room was private and included its own bathroom. And you can enter at the right time, just open the gate and that's it. Quiet and you can sleep peacefully, the mattress is comfortable.
- It is very difficult to contact them, they did not answer calls for several days. Replies via Facebook come with a big delay. - There is not always someone at the reception and you have to wait for either check-in or check-out. - There was only one hook in the room, it would be useful to have a few more. - More shelves will be needed to accommodate your belongings.

The facilities are like new, very clean and well maintained. The central garden and the layout of the rooms create a sense of familiarity. The truth is that they lack details, they have a terrace with benches and a perfect breakfast table. They also have a clothesline for when you come in from the beach. We don't use the public kitchen, but it's one of the cleanest and most well-maintained we've seen. It is on the same street as Lydia's famous Caribbean restaurant (highly recommended).
The walls between the rooms are very thin and sometimes the noise passes from one to the other and the street where it is located is somewhat dark, it would be much better to improve the public lighting.

Ok, a little sad
Super nice family who owned the place, they asked us every day if we wanted to have it cleaned. There were chairs so you could sit out on the terrace, and a very small kitchen where there was enough equipment to cook your food. Walking distance to a place where you could rent bikes and cycle around the city
Really needs an upgrade... There was a hole in the wall inside the shower and overall the bathroom was a bit sad, and besides that there was only cold water in the shower.

No value for money and definitely not 8.2!
The bed is comfortable, the owners are friendly.
Unfortunately, the equipment is very outdated. The sink almost falls out of the wall, there are soap residue from the previous visitor in the shower, the small fan, unfortunately, does not help at all in the heat and humidity. Unfortunately, there was no information about tours and the area. Unfortunately, the promised laundry service was not kept, so I left with my dirty laundry. In short: value for money is totally unsuitable. For one night and 10 euros would be ok, but no more. We left after 2 instead of 3 booked days.

Good price-quality ratio
I liked the location. It's two blocks from downtown Puerto Viejo. you can walk without problems. The room was clean and comfortable. friendly staff, answered all my questions.
It had no air conditioning, only a small fan.

Very good accommodation
You have a relatively large bathroom and a small separate seating area in front of the room. You can also use the kitchen. The front desk is very helpful and quite informal.
The only improvement would be mosquito nets on the windows by the bed. Since the room also has roof windows with mosquito nets, you don't have to open them. Good value for money. We spontaneously extended one night. This is also very easy.

Quiet place and at the same time close to the center
The room for 4 people was big. Cleaned every day and changed bath towels upon request. The cleaning staff were very friendly. Also the lady at the front desk.
No place to store clothes etc. Not enough chairs on the terrace for everyone. The shared kitchen is very small for so many guests. Very little space in the fridge. Dishes and pots/pans are very minimalist. Shower with cold water. The price for 2 people is quite high for what is on offer.

Comfortable bed, correct room and parking.
The pillows on the bed were very dirty and smelled strongly, I asked them to change and they agreed without any problems. The kitchen was closing for the night and we had to leave without being able to have breakfast as it was closed at 6 am. having to leave food in the fridge and not be able to eat it. They must leave a key or give access to clients. The shower was crooked and you didn't shower very comfortably.

Suitable for sleep only - If you want to sit comfortably in the evening, this place is not for you
The location is central, quiet, important places can be reached on foot. The owner also arranged for us to have a doctor do the corona test required for the US at the hotel.
The friendliness left something to be desired - a smile from time to time would have made him more desirable. Even buying new toilet paper was (almost) too much - too bad!!!! Unfortunately, there are no hammocks or other comfortable outdoor areas. Only 5 places in and around the kitchen in almost 20 rooms.

Despite the good location, it is not necessarily quiet.
Good accommodation and apparently relatively cheap for Puerto Viejo. However, compared to other rooms in Costa Rica, this is adequate, if not expensive, for the most basic style. The kitchen is very small for many rooms but well equipped. very friendly cleaning staff.
While it would actually be a quiet place as it is in the back of town, it was quite noisy at night - is there a hostel next door with a bar? and one night they partied there until 5 am. on our second night, the dorm washing machines ran non-stop. The owners are helpful but it seems more difficult than friendly. The taxi driver (who was not officially one) cheated us a lot, so we do not recommend ordering a taxi through the hotel.

I don't understand the positive reviews about the hot shower and friendly staff at all. Cold showers and reception availability were very poor and the fact that without warning the gates to the grounds close in the evening. We had to climb over it at midnight. Then the lock of the room was broken. There was no one to help us, despite the knock on the door of the house from behind. The next morning, no apology, no nothing, the castle was repaired.

Cozy room in a good location
Very friendly staff and nice small room for a few days. Good location - around the corner from the center, but still on a quiet street.
A bit noisy but overall I was very satisfied with my 2 night stay.

Beautiful, practical and affordable.

Nice and nice little place for price and location
All for the price, great! We have everything you need, 2 minutes from the center and the beach! One of the best value for money places in Costa Rica which is usually quite expensive!! 😉 I had a week and added another one a month in advance because it's so good for the price! 🌊🏄🏄🌊🌊 Puerto Viejo has everything like a small village for our needs and very quiet with great beaches and parks all around! 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴

Detergents (shampoo, gel) are perfect. The mattress is not the best, but normal!

The price-quality is excellent
Simple, very clean room and bathroom at a very reasonable price. Very nice and helpful intermediaries, when I needed a PCR test to enter Panama, they organized a doctor who even came. I am very satisfied and can recommend it if you want to save money and do not have high requirements for comfort.

Observations
Very close to the beach, the room was spacious and so was the bathroom, I liked the tables and chairs. I liked that there were no mosquitoes. Actually the room was perfect for me and my daughter. And it seemed to me a safe place, I had already left my things outside, and when I returned, they were there.
The fan made a lot of scandals, I guess it didn't work!

Nice stay close to the center
The location and hygiene were very good. Hot shower and bed were comfortable too.
Very noisy rooms - noise both outside and from the surrounding rooms. There weren't many people there now, but I can imagine that if it is full, you might suffer from it.

Comfortable, quiet, friendly staff and very close to the center
There was no breakfast, at least I was given this information. What I liked the most was the kindness of the people who accompanied me both by phone and in person. They are all very friendly and pleasant. I had to change my trip several times due to the fact that I was out of the country for work, and never once gave me problems or did not set conditions so that I could change it. I also liked: they are cheap, clean, SAFE, quiet, no smoking and no scandals, and they are relatively close to the center.
The internet was very bad ... I had to take my computer with me to work and had connection problems. I also didn’t like that the TV in my room was “black and white”. Just the day before I returned, they fixed it for me and opened my room to do this, even though it had a “do not disturb” sign on it. I saw a few beetles (cockroaches) inside the room, but in fact these are $ 20 rooms, I cannot be too picky and the beetles are normal in the area

The location is 3 minutes walk from the main street, just enough not to hear any noise at night. The staff were very pleasant and the cleanliness of the room was impeccable. Satisfied with my choice.
